Homework
The students in D4 will occasionally have homework. Any class work not completed during the school day will need to be completed at home that same evening and turned in first thing the next morning. (Please note: If we have an EO test the following school day, your child's homework for the night might simply be to review notes & study for the test.)
It is Bellevue Public School's policy that homework should not exceed 10 minutes x a student's grade level, so any work should only take your child 30 minutes or less to complete. If it is taking your child longer than 30 minutes to get through his/her assigned tasks, please contact me and I can help your child with some time-management strategies. If your child is zipping through homework assignments in just a few minutes and you would like additional activities for him/her to do, they could ALWAYS read or choose a math link from our website to review basic math facts. PRACTICE IN THESE Two AREAS IS ALWAYS ENCOURAGED!!! : )
Here's how you can help your child with homework...
I completely understand that with family obligations and hectic schedules, there may be evenings where it's difficult to fit everything in. The goal of homework is to provide students with additional practice in core curriculum... not to stress them (or you) out! If there's ever a night where your child just can't get to it all, please send in a quick note or e-mail and I will be happy to give extra time to complete the task in school the following day. Thanks for your help!

Here's how you can help your child with homework...
- Help your child find a quiet area to work away from electronics or other distractions.
- Make sure the area is well stocked with supplies your child may need., such as paper, pencils, crayons, etc.
- Encourage your child to work independently and try their best.
- When your child is finished, encourage him/her to show you the completed task for review.
- Have your child double-check to make sure his/her name is on the paper.
- Remind your child to put his/her homework in the "Bring Back" pocket of their LeMay folder. All too often I have students say, "My parents forgot to put my homework in my backpack!" (To which I gently remind them that it is THEIR homework, not YOURS! : )
